CUSICK WA BEAT TAPE

Lupin the Beatsmith is Julio Chavez. He doesn't set out to make a certain kind of beat. He takes whatever catches his ear and works it on the SP-404 until it feels like him: filter it, resample it, play it live, mess it up, and keep the mess when it's the best part.

Years in Japan and South Korea taught him that approach. No fancy plug-ins, no new gear, no chasing a perfect beat. Just diligence, instinct and the feeling.
